Jean-Talon Market: Montreal, Canada

Jean-Talon Market (French: Marché Jean-Talon) is said to be the largest open-air farmers market in North America.  The market is located in the heart of the city of Montreal, Canada.   It contains two city-maintained streets both called Place du Marché du Nord.  The market was opened to the public in 1933.  The market is open year-round, even during Montreal's coldest winter days, although during the coldest months walls are placed around the entire market area. During the summer peak period, June and October, its open-air kiosks are occupied by about 300 vendors, mostly farmers from the countryside around Montreal.   My husband is the BEST adventure planner (just one of his many talents)!  This market was the first stop on our adventure in Canada.  As you can imagine, I was thrilled to experience this market - - I didn't want to leave!  Our whole family agrees that visiting the famous Jean-Talon Market was one of the highlights of our trip.  I hope you can make the trip there someday, too. :)
