Burrata with Figs & Basil

To be fair, I have two new favs at Whole Foods.  (See my post below about La Quercia brand of prosciutto.)  Whole Foods now carries Burrata --so exciting!  Burrata is mozzarella that is filled with cream and mozzarella curds.  It is incredibly smooth and creamy, absolutely delicious.  I couldn't resist the organic brown turkish figs from California.  Just slice your figs in half, add a dollop of cheese, a basil leaf, maybe a little salt & pepper and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar (also olive oil if you like).  Of course, to really make this dish perfect one would need to have a little prosciutto to serve alongside.  So wonderful!

  1. What a tasty treat! These sound fantastic. I haven't experimented much with figs or even really ever tried them, but the presentation is beautiful, and this recipe looks mouthwatering.

    It looks fantastic. Another great reason to visit the Chevy Chase Whole Foods...my second home.

    Separately, Bethesda Central Farmers Market (BCFM) has an opening tomorrow at the Sunday Market, so I'll be setting up a few tables of antique 18th and 19th C. English and French copper cookware for sale, as well as a number of other unique antique kitchenware.

    The market opens at 9:00AM, however, I will likely be set up and ready at 8:30AM. Feel free to stop by early. I'll be at the top of the market.
